Hat-Type sections are the ideal solution for large projects with significant force, including barriers, walls, and concrete waterways. Hat-type sections have a greater flex capacity than sheet pile walls and they comply with JIS A 5523.
Similar to U Section sheet piles, the Hat-Type Section sheet pile is also U-shaped. This type of sheet pile section however has a larger flange width as compared to the typical U Section. This increase in flange width translates to a higher bending capacity of the sheet pile wall.
Hat-Type sheet piles are often used for project sites with relatively large forces present such as barriers, walls, and concrete waterways. The interlocks are located on the outside of the sheet pile wall and as such, no interlock shear reduction factors are to be applied during the design process.
The Hat Sections comply with JIS A 5523.
